Choose a video model (Veo vs Kling vs free)

When to use Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 Omni, Gemini Omni Flash, or EdgeCut AI free.

Use this to

Pick the right video engine for the job. Job to be done: match motion style, duration, audio, and reference needs — without accidentally spending credits on the wrong path.

Quick guide

• Veo 3.1 — cinematic motion, photoreal clips, strong with logos/on-screen text in many storyboard animations. Typical single clips: 4/6/8s (up to ~10s at 720p). Longer stories use an extend chain.

• Kling 3.0 Omni — expressive motion, native audio, longer single clips (about 3–15s), strong with references and character control.

• Gemini Omni Flash — fast Google omni path for many dialogue / reference-driven clips.

• EdgeCut AI (free) — opt-in free tier for short 720p videos (daily quota) and simple 1K images without references. Never chosen automatically to “save credits.”

How to choose in practice

1. Need a short cinematic beat or logo/storyboard animation → start with Veo 3.1.

2. Need longer action, tight reference lock, or baked-in speech → Kling 3.0 Omni.

3. Want a fast Google omni dialogue/reference clip → Gemini Omni Flash when offered.

4. Want zero credit spend and accept free limits → explicitly ask for EdgeCut AI / free model.

Agent defaults

Your agent defaults for model, resolution, and aspect ratio apply when you do not override them in the request. An explicit ask always wins. Smart routing may suggest an engine from prompt and references, but free EdgeCut AI is never a silent cost-saving swap.

Credits and limits

Paid models debit credits; the approval card shows the estimate before you confirm. Cost scales with resolution, duration, and chain length. Free EdgeCut AI uses daily video quota (720p 4/6/8s) and 1K images with no references.

Common mistakes

• Assuming the agent will switch to free to save money — it will not.

• Attaching references on free EdgeCut AI (unsupported).

• Asking for a 60s single Veo clip — Veo singles are short; use extend for long video.
