What consumes credits

Resolution, duration, model, and multi-item plans.

Use this to

Predict why a plan costs what it does. Job to be done: relate media type, model, resolution, duration/chain length, and item count to the approval-card estimate.

Drivers

• Media type — video costs more than stills

• Model — Veo / Kling / Omni / Nano paid paths debit credits; free EdgeCut AI uses quota when opted in

• Resolution — e.g. 720p vs 1080p vs 4K

• Duration / extend_chain length — longer chains cost more

• Plan size — multi-item approval cards sum the whole plan

What does not consume credits

Ordinary Director chat, consult treatments, and cancelled approval cards do not spend credits. Only dispatched/confirmed generation does (plus free quota when you use EdgeCut AI free).

Free path

EdgeCut AI free video/image uses daily quota instead of (or alongside) paid credits — only when you opt into that model. Free video: 720p at 4/6/8s. Free images: 1K, no references. See “How do I render for free?”.

Tips

Ask for an estimate before large chains. Prefer still storyboards before animating. Explicit shorter duration requests can reduce cost when the story allows.
